Media Center & Windows Home Server
-
Welcome to Windows Media Center and Windows Home Server information page. Early in 2006
I needed a more effiecent way to share music between the wife and kids and to be able to
view our digital family photo's.
So I decieded to build my first Windows XP Media Center. Over the next 12 months, I thinked changed and played around with Media Center and finally made the decision to build a Central Media Center for the entire house and all family members to use.
Today we use the Media Center to record free to air tv, with its four (4) tuners which is then played back through our three (3) Xbox360 extenders. Its used to show our family photo's and videos and to play music from our CD collection through the whole of house ceiling speakers.
During July 2008, I added a Windows Home Server (WHS) to our system as a central storage location for all our music, photo's, family video's and general datafiles.
Over the coming months, I will be adding links to my favourite Media Center and Windows Home Server Sites, links to the various add-ins for WHS.
Details of our current Media Center and WHS setup can be found here and photo of our theatre room can be found here.
